Florida First Full Day

Woke up early this morning feeling alive and refreshed. Uncle David and Aunt Pat took me to breakfast at a quaint little cafe and of course I had to have some biscuits and gravy a great Southern dish. After dropping Aunt Pat off at work Uncle David and I headed out to Ferry Park to play some Frisbee golf. I remember Frisbee golf in college but we didn't use fancy discs we just used a regular Frisbee you'd toss around in the backyard. Needless to say I didn't start out doing so well but by the end of the course I was doing much better. Now I want to find a course up in Colorado when I get home.

Martha and her boyfriend were off of work this morning so after getting hot and sweaty playing disc golf we came back to the house to change then headed out to Crab Trap on the beach for some lunch. It was cool eating on the beach even though there was a definite rainstorm looming off in the distance. We headed back to Martha's house for a game of Apples to Apples. That game is so much more fun with alot of people. Then Martha and I headed off to little art shops and walked around for a while before she had to head back home and get dressed for work. Love hanging out with my little cousin.

Martha headed off to work just as Aunt Pat was getting back home and she said she had been waiting anxiously all day for us to go sailing. The breeze was calm and cool no real wind but all in all a very peaceful relaxing sail. Hopefully if the weather stays nice we'll go out again tomorrow after church :-) As for now its been a long and busy day so I'm off to bed.

Making it to Texas

Well apparently I accidentally deleted this original post so I'm going to try again.

Right before I was going to head out to Texas I was finalizing all the paperwork on my new apartment YAY can't wait to get out of my current place. I was also surprised to learn that my little brother ran off to San Antonio to get married. I'm very happy for them I just wish I was there to see it.

Made it to Texas with a clam and uneventful drive by Thursday. Its sad that I was originally supposed to be in New Mexico but it allowed me to come home a few days earlier than originally expected. Since I was home earlier than originally expected I was able to make it to Amy's baby shower on Sunday. She is such a cute and glowing pregnant woman. I'm really happy that they liked the quilt. I am so happy for Rich and Amy.

On Monday I jumped up and headed out to Tulsa, OK to see Becky and the fam. She had about 4 extra kids hanging out with us. That was ok we still made some fun for ourselves talking about education, memories of jumping from my dresser to my bed as kids, what we want in the future and how best to make a GIANT sugar cookie. Notice we needed lots of chocolate to make it perfect. Got a windshield replaced and had s a relaxing time but sadly had to go home earlier than I want. If only we had more time to see family.

Thursday was a down day since Friday I was leaving for Florida. All day Thursday I acted like as if I had lost my head and kept forgetting things I needed to pack and make ready for my trip. Luckily my mom was there to help me out. So at 5:30 am I headed out to Florida. My day started off going in a weird direction. First I was headed West on I-20 instead of East so I was already starting behind. Then on top of that I turn down the wrong 49. Oh well I made it to Florida in GREAT time and Uncle David was able to grill up some yummy chicken. Aunt Pat and Martha and I played a rousing game of Mexican train til I was just so exhausted I was ready to just put my head on the pillow and sleep. Nothing like a good sleep after a 12 hour drive earlier that day. Now time to enjoy Florida.

Catching Up

Well its been a while since I've been on here, had to rest after San Diego. On Saturday of my San Diego trip we headed out to the beach. The waters are much colder in the Pacific than the Atlantic. The worst part though is no matter how much sunscreen I put on I still turned out looking like a tomato. It was fun getting to know Carl's shop crew. They are a lot of fun and know how to really grill. After we left the beach they took me to In and Out Burger, so I could finally figure out what all the talk was about. Cheap but very fresh burgers and fries. Definitely yummy and Texas people will be happy to know that its coming soon :-)

On Sunday (Father's Day) we decided to go to Sea World, along with everyone else lol. It was a lot of fun, I love seeing marine animals up close so cool. The only thing I really wanted to do but we didn't have time was feeding the dolphins. :-( Its ok one of these days I will go back to one of the Sea Worlds and I will pay for the dolphin encounter or just go some where where I can swim with dolphins. Did I mention how gracious I am to my father for letting me borrow his camera, I got some amazing photos of the shows. My favorite was by far the sea lions and otters late night show. Making fun of all the other shows, it was very entertaining. I'm so glad we made it to the end of the night for the Shamu Rocks, but it was a very long day about 11 hours.

On Monday Carl had to go back to work and I had work and I had worn poor Marci out with all of our activities, so I got a bus schedule and headed to Balboa Park and the zoo on my own. The hardest part about riding buses in an unknown city is just knowing where to get off because they didn't announce every location and if they did announce the location you had no idea what the hell they were saying. Luckily there were some very nice people I met in San Diego that helped me out there. Now the San Diego Zoo is everything everyone said it was although it was very hilly and you can get lost very easily because you have one way trails. My favorite part of the day there was the birds of flight show. I love looking at the birds and their wingspans, its just so amazing. After the zoo I walked over to Balboa park sadly I didn't have enough time to see all the museums, I'll just have to go back I guess. My dad was right though it was absolutely amazing. I remember the few bits I got to see when I was there with Joe 4 years ago but having more time to walk around was wonderful. I also made it back to Escondido on the bus I am now experienced with riding buses in the Southern California area :-)

On Tuesday I left and came back to Colorado and I've been relaxing here ever since until my next big trek back to Texas on July 7th. While I've been home I've been packing up my little apt and can't wait to move out of the hell hole I currently live in and up to better places.

San Diego Day 3

Today started off with the intentions of being a lazy day because Marci said she needed a break. Instead after watching USA tie Slovenia (we got robbed on that last goal for the win) and England tie Algeria we ended up at the Whaley house in Old Town San Diego. Decided to stick around and explore. Then on the way back my cousin took me to Cruisin' Grand in Escondido. Which is an Classic Car Show. Some of them were really nice cars. I'm slightly partial to the classic vets. In fact actually we saw a '69 stingray with tee tops and only 70,000 miles on it for $22,000. Ugh If i had that kind of money I'd be driving a way in almost my dream car. We came back home and my cousin grilled some great chicken. Reminded me of being back in Texas. Only 4 more days until I have to leave and I'm going to make the most of this.

San Diego Day 2

Ok, so we headed out to San Diego Zoo's Wildlife Park. I had never heard of this place until they mentioned it to me. It is a place that they breed animals and release them to the wild or other zoos. Very cool place indeed. I recommend anyone who likes the zoo to go check out the Wildlife Park. Check out my photos on my facebook page. I have about 300 of them :-) That night we went bowling.....did I mention I suck at bowling lol. Its ok, lots of fun though :-)

San Diego the beginning

June 15th, 2010
God Bless wonderful friends who will drive 80 miles to take you to an airport so you don't have to put your car in long term parking. I hate Frontier Airlines now. They had the nerve to bump me to stand by even though they had open seats on the plane. They just wanted to upsell those seats in the front. Jerks! Luckily someone bought into the whole thing and I was able to get on the flight. Once my cousin got off of work we decided to get some burgers for dinner. I saw that they had zucchini sticks and had to have them. Now most would imagine that they would come out looking like french fries, instead I had an entire zucchini cut into four pieces and fried. Wow wasn't expecting that.

June 16th, 2010
My cousin Carl had a soccer game early morning so we hit that up first. Kicking around the soccer ball just reminds me how much I absolutely miss playing on a team. Sadly his team lost but my cousin played really well. Even his teammates were telling me they thought he was a good player. :-) Way to go Cuz! That's him in the red jersey. Then we decided to move on to the USS Midway. Such a beautiful sunny day outside. Very cool seeing all the jets and talking to Air Force and Naval Vets. Reminded me of talking to my grandfathers about WWII. Although looking at some of the living quarters I am so glad I don't have to live on a ship. Sadly though like Denver I still ended up pink at the end of the day :-( Oh well we'll apply more tomorrow and bathe in Aloe and lotion tonight. It's half price games at Dave and Busters so that's where we decided to end our day. Our waitress acted like she was in such a bad mood. With a pregnant woman hungry and thirsty and your waitress couldn't be found drama was sure to follow. After dinner we went to play some games, you know walking around looking at all the games we ended up at the trivia game (go figure). Now if only we could have gone to a place with NTN and not have had to pay extra to be in an arcade setting. Oh well. Tomorrow we are planning the wild life park. Can't wait but for now its time for bed :-)

The past two weeks

So school ended hooray!!! Summer is here finally. Rudy's BBQ finally came to Colorado Woo Hoo! Finally some good Texas BBQ not the burgers and dogs they call BBQ here. Tuesday I left to head up to Denver. It was a rough start trying to print our baseball tickets and then a friend losing his wallet with all our money in it on a roller coaster ride. Luckily we were able to get the wallet back. We relaxed in the water park and no matter how many coats of sunscreen I used I still turned out looking like a tomato. My luck continued as we went to the Rockies vs. Astros game. I almost thought my trip was cursed when we saw the clouds over head and drops of rain started to fall. Then God smiled on us and pushed the clouds away and the Astros came back to win the game :-) Wednesday we headed up to the museum of Nature and Science to see the Body World Exhibit. I was kinda freaked out knowing that they were real bodies not just sculptures. Even broke my heart because they had a section on babies. I can live with out that memory in my life ever again. Then we headed out to the aquarium, it wasn't as exciting as I was hoping but hey I got to see beautiful fish. I can't wait til San Diego when I get to go to the Sea World and better marine exhibits. We didn't make it to the Air and Space museum because my friend got sick but overall it was still a great time. Now looking forward to flying to San Diego in 3 days :-)

WALK LIKE MADD

Ok, I've added a new activity for my summer. Walk Like MADD. http://support.madd.org/site/TR?pg=personal&fr_id=2676&px=3186968 here is my personal page where you can join me as a walker (in person or virtual) and donate to the cause. I'm walking in memory of my friend Paul Maidman who was tragically killed on April 9, 2010 by a repeat DUI offender. Any help would be great thanks :-)

Summer Body Here I Come

So I've decided that since two of my summer destinations are going to be on the beach, I've got to get my beach body together. I'm not looking to be pencil thin this summer but at least comfortable with myself to wear a bathing suit. So I've given myself mini objectives:

Objective 1: Eat Healthier- Absolutely NO FRIED FOOD! I've done it once when I gave up fried food for Lent so I think I can do it again. Just no more bad bar food, fast food fixes because I'm too lazy to cook and so on.

Objective 2: Abs- I have a 5 minute Ab workout that I can do I just don't. So I need to start doing it again and stop being lazy. I even heard my Aunt Mary tell me a story once that my grandma would do crunches in bed to keep her abs flat.

Objective 3: Arms- I'm not quite sure what to do here yet. I've done a lot of stuff for my arms and nothing seems to work so I'm open to suggestions if anyone out there has some.

Ok, now I'm off to work on my goals and hopefully feel comfortable enough to wear a bathing suit this summer.
